The Night We Met!

Trent and I will be celebrating Nine years of marriage on Thursday.  I thought I would spend the week telling how we came to be.

Trent and I met on June 6, 1998.  I remember the because I was coaxed into going to a get together at his house by my friend Yvonne.  If it wasn't for her begging and pleading we would have never met.  She came up to me after a show we were at and said "Hey, Trent Homec is having a few people come over later to hang out do you want to go?"  I, remember thinking to myself, Who?  I knew who the Homec's were; specifically Colby, because all the girls from Palm Desert always talked about him but I had no idea who Trent was.  And, I really didn't want to go hang out with some guy I didn't know.  I went because she wanted to go.  When we showed up there didn't seem to be anyone there.  It was Trent and his friend Sam, who is a whole other story.  I remember thinking, "Great!  I'm stuck here with this guy I don't know and Sam!"

I still had not met Trent yet, when I walked outside (did I mention that it was dark?  Well, it was!) the first thing I noticed was his smile.  He had a very nice smile.  But all he talked about was going swimming.  I had a swimsuit, but I had no desire to swim.  Somehow I got left outside with Sam.  And I was like NO!  I am not staying out here with this guy.  So, I went inside to see what was going on.  Apparently,  Sam had told Trent that we (Sam and I) had dated!  NOT, TRUE!!!  So Trent assumed that I was still into Sam.  So we eventually got into our suits and got into the hot tub.  We talked and it was fun.  By the end of the night, I really thought Trent was a great guy.  As I was leaving he gave me his phone number.  Which, I put in my purse, thinking yeah I'm not going to call.   But he better call me.  I have a rule about calling guys.  I don't!  I remember thinking as I left that he would be really fun to hang out with for the summer.  I think the next day Yvonne and I were talking about what we should do and thought it would be fun to hang out with Trent again and I actually went to my purse to look for his number, I couldn't find it so he ended up calling me anyway.  :)  Anyway the rest is history.  We spent the rest of the summer together until it was time for him to back to school.
