2 weeks and 3 days!

Have I mentioned that I'm going to Europe?  Well, I am in 2 weeks(17 days).  I will be gone for 10 days.  We are going to Croatia, Slovenia and Switzerland.  We will be going without kids and I am so excited.  I've been trying to get ready for this big trip and have been a little stressed out.  What should I take?  Do I carry-on or do I check my luggage?  What about my hair products?  With the new rules about only taking 1 qt size bag I'm thinking it's not going to be enough.  Then the airlines decided that they want to charge for each bag you take.  As if you are going to go to Europe and not bring clothes?  Trent also found out that you can't even carry-on 22'' bag on an international flight.  So, I've decided that I've given up.  I no longer care what I take, I no longer care about my hair.  I'm just showing up to Europe and everyone with just have to deal with me looking like a hag.  :)  No, not really I'm still trying to decide what to do, but in the mean time I got this:

Canon Rebel
So that I will at least have great pictures of Europe.  I'm trying to figure it out so I can know what I'm doing before I leave.  So all you Canon Rebel owner's out there feel free to leave tips and advice on how to use this camera.

Audrey, bring your camera over and I'll show you what I know. It's not much though. You'll love your camera- I love mine. Wish I had some advice on the luggage and what to bring. When I went to Europe I had 2 suitcases and a duffel- those were the good old days before 911 and all their crazy rules!

That is so cool!!! I'm feeling so left out... everyone is going on fabulous vacations without their kids. We've never been on a trip together... alone (except for our honeymoon!!! Oh well, something to look forward to right? Well, at least I get to live vicariously through all my friends. I can't wait to see all your pictures... and there is no way you could look like a hag... you are too pretty. The trick is to just smile really big and you'll look great, make-up or not! The hard part will be wanting to buy things to bring back, but maybe you can ship it? Congrats on the camera! That's on my wish list too...

Nice! I like my Rebel too. You can do so much. Mike is better at taking pics than me. But I'm learning. I figured out that if I don't want to have to figure out both the aperture and f-stop (is that the right term), than I use the Av or the other ?v (don't have my camera to look at right now) - then you only have to figure out 1/2 of the formula and the camera will do the rest. Take a photo and if you don't like it, change the setting! It's a lot of trial and error until you know what you like. I love when it captures the natural light (less of the flash).
Good luck. Europe sounds so great. Mike and I backpacked it in 2002 (when exchange rates were in our favor). We had one larger backpack that we shared and then one small daypack which I carried. We were there 17 days, did laundry once. Just pack lightweight stuff that dries fast and you can wash them out at your hotel/hostel...be sure to wear some comfy walking shoes (not new ones)! I'm glad we packed light because we ended up buying stuff along the way. Have fun, can't wait to see your blog about it.

I am not sure what I am going to do when you are gone for two weeks. I will be so bored not to mention Corbin.

Wow! What a fun trip for you guys and without kids....I'd like to try that again. I went to Switzerland when I graduated from high school and it was my favorite place of the whole trip. It's beautiful there and I'm sure you're going to have a great time. The camera looks great...it's on my wish list. Can't wait for your pictures and have a great time!
